Disco is the raga of every metropolitan youngster. If they want to Rock, then there is no place better than disco.

Day by day, the popularity of disc in metro cities is increasing. Not a single restaurant is left where you will not find a special space for disco. But did you really know what disco stands for and from where it originates and what is its popularity. We are here to answer all these entire question.

To start with disco, it is a genre of music that was first played in dance clubs commonly known as discothèques. The term refers to a style of music that originated from jazz, funk and soul, and was later influenced by, among others, salsa and Latin / Hispanic music, but is nonetheless distinctive and unique.

It is believed that the element of disco music was first appeared on records as early as 1969 with Jerry Butler's "Only the Strong Survive" and had its roots in Philly and New York Soul which themselves were a further evolution of the Motown sound. Initially, disco tunes were aimed at the nightclubs / dance scenes; some popular radio-hits were played in discothèques. These tended to follow a simple rhythmic bass-pattern close to 120 BPM (beats per minute). And today, the term disco is found everywhere in the city, in every restaurants be it a five star or seven star.

It popularity is increasing rapidly, even in small towns and cities, the pattern of discos are being used. Today in many wedding ceremonies, parties, birthday’s disco theme is in the fashion. The youngsters are more keen to have disco kind of enjoyment.

Discos have also originated the concept of DJ’s. i.e. disco jockey. He is the one who plays music in the discotheque with several instruments. With commencement of DJ, the popularity of disco has increased more fastly. Earlier the concept of Disco was of western culture but today, it is found everywhere worldwide.
