Simple Steps to Get on Google
Sunday, 05.20.2007, 02:16pm (GMT)
In this article you will find simple steps to have your page at the
top of the Google search engine. With about 20 inbound links and
following the easy steps below, you can achieve a high ranking for your
site. Sites in non captive areas or with town locations attached to the
keyword phrase can easly obtain a first page position using these
techniques. - The Title Tag. The title tag is still one
of the most important parts in optimizing your site for Google. Over
the past months Google has become more sophisticated in detecting spam
in titles. We recommend having one or two words, followed by your
keyword phrase, and about five words after that. If your keyword phrase
has more than three words you should separate the fourth word from the
third so you are not hit for spamming.
- The
description tag. This is the second most important part in achieving a
highly ranked site. Another important thing to remember is the title
will only get displayed if ALL the keywords typed into Google appear in
your title. If not, Google will grab text from your document. We
recommend that the description not only have the words in your keyword
phrase, but all the words that may be used when searching for your
site. This way you can insure your title is displayed. We recommend
having about three words for your title, followed by about two words in
your keyword phrase. At the end of the title include the first word of
your keyword phrase.
- Alt tags. This is the
description that is displayed if your browser is unable to load the
corresponding image. The first alt tag should have ALL your keywords in
it. The following ones should have one or two of your keyword phrases.
- The body text is also one of the most important components in optimizing your site.
- Size
of text: You might have noticed Wikipedia receives high rankings. This
is due to the amount of text on each web page. Currently Google
encourages 1800 pages of text on your page. We recommend at least 200
words.
- Header text: Each block of text should use the header
tag. Google gives presidens to text with the h1 header tag. We
recommend around four sets of header text. The first header should
include all the words of your keyword phrase. If the phrase is three or
less words, try to have the exact keyword phrase. For longer keyword
phrases separate the phrase with words. The middle headers should have
about half the words in your keyword phrase.
- Keyword density:
Google is now becoming stricter on spamming. We used to use a ratio of
5% now we recomend a total density of 3%. We recommend that you have
about 1.5% density of the keyword phrase followed by 1.5% for each word
that makes up the keyword phrase. This will ensure you pass through
Google's spam detector. Your density should be highest at the top, then
the bottom and the middle the terms will appear less, hence why the
density will be lower. If you have 300 words of text, 3% percent will
have your phrase 9 times. Have about four on the first 100 words, 3 at
the bottom and 2 times in the middle.
- Bold face: Have your keyword phrase bold faced one time near the top
- Outbound
links. It seems as though Google is now not only looking at who points
to you, but who you point to. We recommend you perform a Google search
to find the top ranked sites for your keyword phrase and then at the
bottom have links pointing to them.
