Have you ever been using your computer and all of a sudden you get a
blue screen with a general protection fault error displaying lots of
numbers and some letters? When you do get the blue screen of death or a BSOD as its called,it means there is something wrong within the windows registry. There are known causes for the blue screen of death.
When you want to uninstall a program from your computer, the wrong way
to do it is to delete the entire contents of the folder into the
recycle bin. That is most definitely the wrong way.Doing this a few
times will certainly bring about a general protection fault error and
the blue screen of death. The right way to remove programs from
your computer is to click start, control panel,add/remove
programs, locate the program and uninstall the program from there. Never
delete a program, this will always cause problems.Always uninstall
programs.
The windows registry is one of the most
important if not the most important part of your operating system. A
corrupt windows registry will ultimately lead to you having to format
the hard drive and re-install your operating system. Another known
cause for possible problems within the windows registry are hardware
conflicts. For example, say you have alot of devices installed like a
printer, scanner, web camera, things of this nature.Maybe you think your
smart enough that you can change available IRQ'S (Interupt Requests)
which in simple terms means the available address's of your devices
hardware. Changing an IRQ of a device for whatever reason can certainly
cause a general protection fault error in your windows registry. Its
adviseable not to do anything with the IRQ'S of your devices unless
your positve you know what your doing.
If you have a large hard
drive, say over 120 gigabytes and have alot of programs on your hard
drive. You have games that need patches, you update these programs via
the patches. All this is recorded in the windows registry. For some
unknown reason, you install the patch in the wrong directory. This can
cause a general protection fault in your windows registry.
Over
time, you will visit alot of websites, most are good websites, some are
infested with malicious infections such as trojans, worms, spyware, adware
and viruses. When one or more of these pests inhabit your system
files, windows registry and go undetected, you will be in for alot of
problems. You will need a good anti-spyware program and good anti-virus
program to detect these pests before they force you to format the hard
drive and re-install your operating system.
