Haplochromis sp. 'Kenya gold'

This is a very unique looking cichlid. The dominant males sport a lovely gold colour. They also develop a red tail and have an almost vertical black bar that goes through their eye,

Location: Found in Lake Malawi.  Is endemic to the southeast and southwest arms of the  lake.  Is found in shallow sheltered areas with sandy bottoms and reeds.  It feeds on insect larvae and other invertebrates.

Meaning of Name: Pseudo = false, Tropheus is a genus from Lake Tanganyika. Socolof refers to Florida fish-farmer Ross Socolof

Kennyis are found in Lake Malawi. They are found in only two locales; Mbenji Island and N'Khomo Reef. They are found where the rocks meet the sand at depths of 6-82 feet. But are mostly found under 33 feet.
Pseudotropheus saulosi

Distribution: Southeast Africa: Lake Malawi.  The type locality is Taiwan Reef, (9 km north-west of Chisumulu Island).   P. saulosi is one of the most common cichlids found there.  They will forage for food in groups of up to 100 individuals.
